Terms of Use

Kept is a private, voice-first journal for remembering details about the people closest to you. The service helps you capture notes after you see someone, extract structured memories, and gently resurface them when they matter — such as before a birthday or after a quiet stretch.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Kept. By using the service, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

Kept stores your journal on your device, including any photos you attach to notes. You are responsible for the content you record and for keeping your device secure. Because your data lives locally, losing access to your device or deleting the app without exporting may result in permanent data loss.

You retain ownership of the content you create. You grant us a limited license to process your recordings, transcripts and note text — before and after you confirm a note — solely to provide transcription, extraction, follow-up questions, briefings, reflections and related features, as described in the Privacy Policy and only with the permission you give in the app.

You agree not to:

• Use Kept for any unlawful purpose or to violate others' rights.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or disrupt the service or its infrastructure.
• Use Kept to store or process sensitive data you are not authorized to record.
• Misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person.

Kept offers a free tier and an optional paid subscription (Kept+). New installs include a 14-day trial with full access and no card. After the trial, reading, typing and editing notes, adding people, search and export stay free, and voice notes are limited to five a month; resurfaced memories and their reminders require Kept+. Your existing people and notes always remain readable and exportable, whether or not you subscribe.

Kept+ is offered monthly or yearly at the price shown in the app before you subscribe, in your local currency. Subscriptions are billed through Google Play or Apple's App Store and managed via RevenueCat. They renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; you can manage or cancel at any time in your store account settings.

Refunds are handled by Google or Apple according to the policies of the store you bought through. We do not process payments directly.

Kept, including its name, logo, design, and software, is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding except as needed to use the service as intended.

Kept is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated extractions will always be accurate. Kept is a personal journal tool — not professional advice, therapy, or a substitute for your own judgment about relationships.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Kept, including loss of data stored on your device. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty dollars (USD), whichever is greater.

You may stop using Kept at any time by deleting the app and your data from Settings. We may suspend or discontinue the service if you violate these Terms or if we are required to do so by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers and limitations of liability) will continue to apply.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Kept after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Delaware, except where prohibited by applicable consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction.
